1. Turn off all electronics.
Many people do not realize how much of a distraction electronics are. The constant buzzing of a cell phone, notifications from Facebook, and the flashing of a television can be keeping you up later at night. Having these electronics keep your mind from being able to relax and shut off.
2. Turn off/cover up all lights.
Make sure all outside lights and lights inside your room are turned off or blocked from view before you go to bed. 3. Take a hot bath.

4. Stay active during the day.
Exercising or being on your feet for at least 30 minutes a day can release energy and built up tension which can help send you into that deep sleep faster.
5. Cool down your bedroom.
After a hot bath, a cool room is the perfect combination for fast, deep sleep. A cool room can reduce the chances of night sweats which can keep you awake or awaken you during the night.
6. Write in a journal.
Writing in a journal can be a great way to de-stress after a long day. Write down everything you need to do the next day or week and anything that may be on your mind. It is better to get the thoughts written down so that they are not racing through your mind while trying to fall asleep.
